In my opinion, to create is to be inside the mysterious.
How a simple mix of paint or a mark of a pen or a shape of clay can have the power to speak to us is nothing short of magic. I’m not always fond of everything I create but I’ve never regretted the creating.
Many times I’ve been asked about when or how my obsession with art and writing began, but I honestly can’t recall a time when the interest didn’t exist.
I do however, recall getting a Bachelor of Arts degree, then having an art studio, and a few years later my sculptures became part of collections in Canada, Japan, and the US. Then I took lots and lots and lots of courses in writing and fine art at the University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, the Victoria College of Art, the Vancouver Island School of Art, and the Comics and Graphic Novels certificate program at Camosun College.
Then I became a Science Writer where I wrote for both the general public and the international scientific community. Couldn’t help but keep up with the fiction writing and artwork though!
Over the years I’ve presented numerous workshops on both writing and art, including a seminar series on creativity, and have served on the local Canadian Authors Association Board of Directors.
I live with a wonderful husband in a magical playhouse high on a hill overlooking the gorgeous islands of the Canadian west coast.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
Here’s hoping it inspires you to enter your own realm of magic!
